Scott Mason
President and Chief Executive Officer
Scott Mason, leads Public Health Advocacy Inc. (PHAI). One of the international relief and development organizations in the nation. Scott works closely with his executive leadership team to execute priorities in direct support of the charity’s mission to provide relief, recovery, and resilience to help impoverished families in Latin America and the Caribbean. As PHAI continues to build homes and schools, its focus under Scott’s leadership is expanding to include sustainable community development by identifying and addressing economic, social, and spiritual challenges in a community, and empowering families to be self-sufficient and able to thrive in the long-term. The emphasis is now on “building lives” and not just “building things.”
Scott joined PHAI in October 2017, was appointed Executive Vice President in May 2020 and became President and Chief Executive Officer in January 2022. Scott first saw the work of PHAI on a mission trip to Haiti in 2015 and realized that he could align his passion to help organizations scale for growth with donors who want to make a difference in the world by helping those who are less fortunate.
Scott previously served in global executive roles in Operations and Human Resources. His understanding of how to shape company cultures has enabled organizations to scale for growth. His focus is on clear strategic direction, efficiency, and driving organizational effectiveness, while guiding organizations during periods of significant change
Scott was born and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Florida and has a Certification in Organizational Development from Columbia University, as well as a Certification in Fundraising from Boston University.
“We focus on Latin America and the Caribbean and are one of the few that provide a platform for other subject matter experts to plug into that enables all of us to optimize our effectiveness and truly solve the multidimensional problems of poverty. This is what sets us apart from other NGOs. We understand that poverty isn’t just about food – it’s multidimensional. It can be about health, education and, of course, the spirit. Having all these elements come together is critically important to us. Lives depend on our effectiveness and efficiency and our donors will only give to us if they trust that we can do this.”
